Abstract
L’impact de la mondialisation sur le théâtre irlandais depuis le début des années 90 a été considérable. Une étude de quatre pièces irlandaises créées par des compagnies dites « régionales » indique que deux impulsions dominent le théâtre irlandais contemporain, impulsions toutes deux engendrées par le phénomène de la mondialisation mais qui tendent vers des résultats très différents : les compagnies de théâtre réagissent contre la mondialisation en proposant un théâtre qui s’inspire de réalités propres aux régions, mais apte à circuler sur une échelle nationale et même internationale. Cette approche à la création se retrouve à l’origine d’un certain nombre de conflits entre ces compagnies de théâtre et leurs spectateurs immédiats : Patrick Lonergan décrit ces conflits, tout comme certaines tentatives de résolution.
