Abstract
Plusieurs auteurs soulignent comme caractéristique de certains parents négligents l'existence d'une faiblesse intellectuelle. Par ailleurs, Audy, concepteur du modèle d'intervention Actualisation du potentiel intellectuel (API), note que certains individus, ayant manqué de médiation dans l'enfance, souffriraient du syndrome de privation de médiation (SPM) qui se caractérise, entre autres, par un manque d'efficience cognitive (Audy, Ruph et Richard, 1993 : 157). Nous avons fait une étude descriptive de la clientèle d'un service de protection et vérifié si elle présentait les caractéristiques du SPM et avons expérimenté le programme API auprès d'un groupe de parents négligents.
