Abstract
Dans le sillon des travaux de Pascale Casanova et de Raoul Boudreau sur les capitales littéraires, cet article s’interroge sur le rôle joué par Ottawa au sein de l’espace littéraire franco-ontarien. À plusieurs égards, Ottawa rappelle Moncton, capitale littéraire de l’Acadie aujourd’hui bien instituée. Cependant, malgré sa forte concentration de ressources littéraires et sa mise en récit dans des textes qui visent à lui rendre hommage, la capitale fédérale n’est pas parvenue à devenir une capitale littéraire pour l’Ontario français. L’étude des stratégies d’écriture employées par Daniel Poliquin dans La Côte de Sable et par Michel Ouellette dans King Edward pour mettre cette ville en scène permettra de cerner les limites du mythe ottavien, pourtant nécessaire à la transformation de la ville en capitale littéraire.
