À partir des enjeux auxquels font face les psychanalystes inscrits dans le travail institutionnel et des formations obligatoires auxquelles on les soumet, nommément l’approche motivationnelle et l’approche du rétablissement en santé mentale, deux positions de l’auteure s’affrontent. Dans le respect à la fois de son éthique et de son autonomie professionnelles, quelle place le psychanalyste peut-il trouver pour lui-même et pour l’Autre qu’il écoute ? Confronté à des paradigmes qui ne sont pas les siens, où le sujet se voit réduit aux considérations marchandes des données probantes, il est appelé à tenter quelques petites subversions pour sortir de l’écheveau normatif et quantifiable, un brin de création et d’inattendu. Il est néanmoins violemment exposé aux discours vides, aux mots-clés, écartant l’essentiel de la souffrance humaine : son sens. Tout en brossant un tableau de l’état des lieux, l’auteure questionne et critique l’insensé contenu dans ces « bonnes pratiques » avec, en fil d’Ariane, les questions « qu’est la psychanalyse devenue ? » mais aussi que deviendra-t-elle ?
