La prise en charge des grossesses à risque élevé (GARE) est en émergence, laquelle peut nécessiter une hospitalisation de la femme. En sciences infirmières, l’expérience des couples vivant cette hospitalisation est peu connue, puisque l’événement a davantage été abordé selon une perspective maternelle. Certains auteurs suggèrent néanmoins qu’une perspective systémique soit adoptée, pour comprendre la complexité du phénomène et guider le développement d’interventions infirmières. Afin de clarifier la compréhension du phénomène, une recension des écrits a été réalisée. Cet article a pour but de présenter l’état actuel des connaissances sur l’expérience de couples dont la femme est hospitalisée en raison d’une GARE en la mettant en parallèle avec la pratique infirmière actuelle dans le contexte de pratique de l’auteure principale. Les principaux thèmes émanant de cette recension sont : donner un sens à l’hospitalisation anténatale, s’organiser pour faire face au danger, gérer le stress et l’anxiété suite à l’hospitalisation et avoir besoin l’un de l’autre. Il s’en suit une réflexion sur des orientations possibles de la recherche et de la pratique infirmière vers une perspective systémique constructiviste, tenant compte des relations entre les conjoints et le contexte d’hospitalisation. Finalement, l’élaboration d’un modèle illustrant la pratique infirmière actuelle est présentée.
