Abstract
Les Françaises ne sont plus ce qu’elles étaient dans les années 1950 : des conservatrices se désintéressant des affaires politiques. En 1997, elles affirment une nouvelle identité politique, plus active et revendicative, plus autonome aussi vis-à-vis des hommes et des appareils partisans. Face à cette émancipation des électrices, la confiscation par les hommes de la représentation politique, depuis les débuts de la Ve république, n'en est que plus frappante. Cette impasse du républicanisme a débouché sur la montée en puissance d’une nouvelle revendication : la parité dans les assemblées politiques. Ce nouveau combat juridique peut-t-il triompher? En tout cas, il est, avec d’autres réformes institutionnelles, au centre des débats politiques actuels.
