Abstract
dense chemotherapy can be a valid option for patients with tumors with high-risk features.Still there are several questions unanswered.We do not know the best regimen (shall we only shorten the intervals or additionally increase the dose?), we need to know which patient population will benefit the most from this approach.Moreover, what was not known when these trials have been designed that the comparator 4 × AC / EC (epirubicin and cyclophosphamide) followed by 4 × paclitaxel every three weeks is not the most effective adjuvant regimen (in recent studies it was inferior to Canadian CEF (cyclophosphamide, epirubicin and fluorouracil) and to 4 × AC followed by paclitaxel weekly, at least in a hormone receptor negative population).Further studies with more effective comparators will give more clarity.
