Abstract
Partant du postulat que les tensions actuelles entre la coopération et le syndicalisme agricoles s'expliquent, en partie du moins, par leur passé, nous retraçons ici leur pratique au cours de leur période d'implantation. Nous abordons successivement les coopératives locales et régionales, les premiers efforts de regroupement et les coopératives provinciales, la coopérative Fédérée, les expériences initiales de syndicalisme agricole et l'Union catholique des cultivateurs. Ayant constaté une assez grande distance entre le projet associationniste et la pratique, nous avançons en conclusion quelques éléments d'explication.
