Abstract
Leukocyte trafficking to and through the vascular endothelium and into parenchymal tissues during inflammation, with selective exclusion of some leukocytes from the inflamed site, reflects a complex series of molecular interactions involving adhesion and chemoattractant molecules. Chemokine mechanisms have attracted much interest as targets for preventing antigen-primed T cells and inflammatory cells from infiltrating target tissues in allergy, autoimmunity and transplantation. CXCR3 is expressed on effector T cells infiltrating the allograft, and CXCR3 mRNA is prominent in acute rejection in cardiac and renal transplants.
