Abstract
Une société n’est pas un simple agrégat d’individus, mais un ensemble instable de groupes sociaux. Cependant, ni la situation de ces groupes au sein de la société, ni même leur réalité n’est jamais stabilisée. Cette réflexion s’intéresse à la naissance et au développement d’un nouveau groupe, les dirigeants. Comme tout groupe social, il offre à ses membres une place dans la société, une identité collective, des valeurs et des normes de comportements, ainsi que des avantages et une rémunération matériels et symboliques. La naissance de ce groupe est largement liée à une mutation de l’entreprise. De nombreuses entreprises ont évolué effectivement d’un modèle où l’exigence de développement l’emportait sur l’exigence de rentabilité financière vers un modèle où cette exigence est première. Or, ce nouveau modèle rencontre des oppositions et les dirigeants peinent à légitimer leurs avantages et rémunérations.
