Cet article présente une synthèse de la recherche faite sur le sujet, entre 1972 et 1978, par l’équipe ÉVALENSCI de la Faculté des Sciences de l’Éducation de l’Université de Montréal. Les buts visés, les problèmes étudiés, les échantillons et les instruments utilisés sont décrits clairement mais en résumé. Une attention particulière a été apportée à la présentation d’une synthèse des résultats des différentes recherches réalisées à l’intérieur de ce projet d’équipe. La liste de ces études est donnée en fin d’article. Dans l’ensemble il ne faut pas conclure à un échec de l’enseignement des sciences et de l’apport des nouveaux programmes et méthodologies modernes à cet enseignement, mais plutôt à leur contribution décevante à la formation tant intellectuelle que socio-affective des étudiants.
