Abstract
Edmond Jabès radicalise le blocage du poète après Auschwitz en optant pour une poétique de la question, qui re-suscite l'absence en faisant éclater le sens d'une vérité préétablie. Par l'intermédiaire d'une figure rhétorique, le chiasme, Edmond Jabès laisse s'effectuer une sorte de pliage dans le langage qui confère d'abord une absence au langage, un effacement. La question comme résultante incarne un non-lieu qui, en interpellant l'origine absente dans le langage, ouvre sur une sorte d'épanouissement du Verbe. Et d'emblée, la fiction de l'origine peut s'épanouir. La poétique de la question recrée donc le jeu de la séparation et de l'absence qui devient ensuite présence dans le livre, mais qui, sous forme de chemins, intervient également sur la mémoire et sur notre capacité d'éveil, qui sont toujours en proie à l'effacement. Méditation du vrai, la poésie crée une brèche herméneutique dans le déjà-là du monde. Mais, en plus de se déployer dans l'ouverture de la question qu'elle pose, cette poétique de la mémoire, en outre, nous place à bonne distance devant le choix de notre rapport à l'autre . À partir de cette ouverture, ce choix s'exprime ici envers l'Être-pour- le-Livre (opposé à l'Être-pour-la-mort) car, en définitive, nous comprenons que cette mémoire est tournée vers l'avenir.
