Abstract
Le but est ici de considérer de quelles façons la structure narrative du Banquet illustre son thème : l'amour érotique. Deux caractéristiques en particulier de cette structure attirent notre attention. D'une part, la transmission indirecte et le soin requis pour remémorer et raconter la conversation qui a eu lieu chez Agathon illustrent comment l'éros peut préserver l'identité seulement au moyen d'une constante récupération de ce qui se perd constamment, un pathos auquel notre connaissance ne peut pas échapper ; d'autre part, les interruptions soudaines et les recommencements illustrent la temporalité particulière d'un amour qui est insituable et sans ordre. La philosophie, en tant qu'exemple d'un tel amour, bien que privilégié, s'avère être tout sauf une marche progressive et ordonnée vers la vérité.
