Abstract
The hydrodistilled essential oil from dried fruits of Ferula latisecta was analyzed by GC/MS. Forty-one components, representing 88.9% of the oil was characterized. The major components were sec-butyl-(Z)-propenyl disulphide (65.2%), sec-butyl-(E)-propenyl disulphide (6.8%) and di-sec-butyl disulphide (2.1%). The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of the oil was determined using broth dilution method against four bacteria and one fungus strains. The MIC value of the oil was 0.195 mg/ml against Candida albicans.
