Abstract
Parmi les facteurs qui ont pesé sur l'évolution passée de l'agglomération québécoise, on doit signaler plus particulièrement sa situation géographique, la croissance démographique et résidentielle de ses quartiers et de ses banlieues, la constitution de ses principaux réseaux de communication et de distribution des biens et services, le poids de certaines décisions gouvernementales. Et l'étude du développement plus récent des espaces résidentiels nous permet de mieux évaluer l'importance du phénomène de la densification des banlieues immédiates. Une comparaison avec Montréal fait ressortir une qualité supérieure des sites, un aménagement plus agréable et une recherche architecturale plus grande dans l'agglomération québécoise.
