Abstract
De jeunes plants de cinq cultivars de Spiraea japonica L. et d'un cultivar de Spiraea nipponica Maxim. ont ete implantes entre 1986 et 1994 dans des sites representant differentes zones climatiques du nord-est canadien (2 a 5). Ces plants ont ete observes pendant cinq annees dans le but de verifier leur potentiel de tolerance aux conditions climatiques. Les dommages hivernaux observes chaque printemps montrent que le potentiel d'acclimatation aux conditions hivernales de Spiraea japonica differe au sein de ses cultivars. Le cultivar Little Princess a demontre un potentiel de survie superieur aux autres cultivars, alors que Crispa a ete le plus fortement endommage. Les dommages legers se sont produits sur tous les cultivars, sans relation avec la zone climatique alors que les dommages severes se sont produits surtout sur le cultivar Shirobana affectant egalement le cultivar Crispa et S. nipponica 'Snowmound'. La duree de la floraison a fortement diminue dans les sites les plus froids comparativement aux sites plus chauds.
