Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

The absence of magnetic long-range order in the triangular lattice spin-1 antiferromagnet ${\text{NiGa}}_{2}{\text{S}}_{4}$ [S. Nakatsuji et al. Science 309, 1697 (2005)] has prompted the search for a novel quantum ground state. In particular, several experiments suggest the presence of a linearly dispersing mode despite no long-range magnetic order. We show that the anomalous low-temperature properties of ${\text{NiGa}}_{2}{\text{S}}_{4}$ can naturally be explained by the formulation developed by Halperin and Saslow [Phys. Rev. B 16, 2154 (1977)] where the linearly dispersing Halperin-Saslow mode may exist in the background of frozen spin moments and zero net magnetization. We provide consistency checks on the existing experimental data and suggest future experiments that can further confirm the existence of the Halperin-Saslow mode. Our results place important constraints on any microscopic theory of this material.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
