Abstract
L’ensemble de l’œuvre du professeur francais Pierre George porte une dimension gigantesque. Seulement au plan de ses ecrits, un lecteur devrait attentivement considerer plus d’une dizaine de milliers de pages. De plus, l’histoire francaise de cette discipline a d’ailleurs produit un grand nombre de travaux portant a la fois sur l’epistemologie, la biographie des geographes ainsi que sur les activites de ces derniers ; une equipe dirigee par Marie-Claire Robic vient d’en publier un minutieux bilan. Outre cette documentation impressionnante, j’utilise mes connaissances personnelles du personnage 1 .
