Abstract

In this paper, a joint optimal design is investigated to reduce peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR), peak interference-to-carrier ratio (PICR), and out-of-band power (OBP) radiations of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals and thus to improve performance of OFDM systems. The constellation extension approach is proposed to convert this joint design problem into a second order cone programming (SOCP) problem, whose global optimal solution has been shown to exist and can be obtained efficiently. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate efficacy of the proposed algorithm in joint PAPR, PICR, and OBP reduction.
