Abstract
Herméneutiques hispaniques et projets socio-politiques et religieux en Amérique aux XVI' et XVII' siècles Si la conversion des autochtones des Andes fut si rapide, cela est dû moins à l'efficacité des stratégies missionnaires qu'à la capacité des peuples amérindiens de recevoir des idées religieuses étrangères. Ces stratégies relèvent de quatre herméneutiques. Les Franciscains laissent à l'Esprit le soin de transformer l'univers en paradis terrestre, les Jésuites, par des moyens bureaucratiques et efficaces, cherchent à régler le sort des Amérindiens, les Augus-tins s'attardent à déchiffrer les desseins de la Providence. Enfin, l'herméneutique de Las Casas représente une volonté inébranlable de faire justice contre l'administration espagnole. De leur côté, les Amérindiens vont adhérer à ce Dieu universel qui n'est pas exclusif à un peuple. Cela conduit à une révolution mentale tant du côté amérindien que du côté chrétien.
