Abstract
Certaines observations sur l'influence des glaces flottantes en géographie (objet du « glaciel ») ont pu être faites au cours d'un séjour de recherches en Sibérie pendant l'été 1969. Parmi les principaux mécanismes généraux de la glaciellisation des rives de la Lena et de l'Aldan, notons un fort coefficient de glacement, le tracé des fleuves, les embâcles et débâcles, l'amplitude verticale du niveau des eaux, le relief encaissant, l'alimentation des berges en matériaux, la résistance à la destruction des formes fraîches. Les conditions du modelé glaciel sont extrêmement dynamiques. La principale forme est avant tout le Becevnik, terrasse profondément réaménagée par les glaces flottantes ; nous distinguons becevnik d'érosion et becevnik d'accumulation. Les formes mineures se regroupent en quatre catégories : a) formes de dénudation et d'érosion (7) ; b) de protection (2) ; c) d'accumulation (4) et d) de restructuration, (8). Plusieurs de ces formes avaient déjà été étudiées au Canada.
