Abstract
Cette étude jette un regard critique sur la radicalisation idéologique dans l’affirmation du pouvoir souverain des États-Unis dans le contexte de la lutte globale contre le terrorisme. Elle entreprend de revisiter les représentations néoconservatrices de la puissance américaine à travers l’articulation discursive d’un nouvel empire/renouveau impérialiste américain. Elle questionne en outre l’impact politique réel et symbolique du discours néoconservateur dans la politique étrangère de la première administration de George W. Bush, ainsi que la conséquence indirecte de ceux-ci dans la production théorique des Relations internationales. Sont ainsi abordés: l’influence du néoconservatisme sur la politique étrangère américaine dans l’après-11 septembre ; le nouvel « impérialisme démocratique » américain et le traitement discursif de l’idée d’un nouvel empire/impérialisme américain dans les Relations internationales.
