Dans le même temps où les conditions de l’exercice du métier d’enseignant dans l’accomplissement de la tâche primaire (éduquer, instruire) sont de plus en plus difficiles, la formation (initiale et continue) de ceux-ci s’avère paradoxalement inadaptée ou insuffisante. L’application de procédures toutes faites ou de modalités protocolaires censées être valables dans toutes les occurrences se révèle inefficace dans la singularité de l’événement. Les enseignants restent démunis face à des comportements antiscolaires. Sans doute la formation est-elle conçue désormais selon une logique qui exclut le sujet au profit de l’individu. Ce changement de perspective a pour conséquence d’évacuer dans la compréhension de ce qui se passe le point de vue des relations intersubjectives et de leurs implications, uniquement accessibles par un travail sur soi selon une démarche clinique. Seule une formation qui prendrait en compte la clinique du sujet comme sujet du groupe selon les modalités d’une authentique méthodologie clinique serait à même de préparer les enseignants à comprendre et à gérer au mieux les effets, phénomènes et processus de groupe dans leur classe, au sein de l’établissement et des valeurs institutionnelles qui en organisent le fonctionnement.
