Abstract
Il y a dix ans, on aurait rarement assisté chez-nous à une confrontation entre un sociologue et un médecin sur quelque panel télévisé ou encore relevé la signature du sociologue au bas d'une recherche portant sur l'univers des soins. Ce ne sont plus aujourd'hui des événements d'exception. Le sociologue québécois prétend à ses lettres de créance dans l'étude scientifique de la santé. Malgré des résistances plus ou moins vives, il trace son chemin dans cette voie en soumettant une quantité croissante de contributions originales. Mais quelles sont les origines historiques et idéologiques de la sociologie de la santé au Québec? Comment le sociologue fut-il amené à figurer sur cette scène à la fois complexe et délicate qu'est la santé? Quel est l'éventail de ses tâches actuelles?
