Abstract
Résumé La société Domtar a reçu, récemment, beaucoup d’attention de la part des analystes et des médias. Ce qui rend son cas intéressant, c’est la façon dont les dirigeants et l’ensemble du personnel sont parvenus à retourner en leur faveur une situation plutôt défavorable. Pendant la période allant de 1996 à 2001, tout a été remis en question dans cette entreprise, que ce soit la formation du personnel, les procédés de fabrication, l’offre des produits ou les systèmes de distribution. À l’origine de ce bouleversement se trouve M. Raymond Royer. À son arrivée à la direction en 1996, il a veillé à instaurer une culture d’entreprise en implantant sa philosophie de gestion, dite «par engagement», laquelle repose sur des valeurs à appliquer et dont le but est de satisfaire les trois «piliers» de l’entreprise, soit les clients, les actionnaires et les employés. Cet article passe en revue les facteurs, au nombre de 10, qui ont assuré le succès remarquable de Domtar, puis il examine les perspectives d’avenir de cette importante entreprise papetière.
