Abstract
Depuis les premiers travaux de Douglas Taylor (1951) soulignant les caractéristiques sexuées de la langue des Caraïbes noirs («Black Caribs»), très peu de recherches ont porté sur les rapports différentiels des sexes à la langue. Conçu comme une contribution théorique à ce champ de recherche, cet article se propose d'évaluer l'attention portée aux rapports entre langue et pouvoir dans la région caraïbe, tout en fournissant des données empiriques sur les efforts de planification linguistique en Guadeloupe et en Martinique. Il se termine par un aperçu de questions sur lesquelles les recherches futures devraient se pencher.
