Une petite phrase à résonance politique se retrouve dans cinq textes datant de 1313 à 1359 : " Porchier mieus estre ameroie que Fauvel torchier " ( Kalila et Dimna, le Roman de Fauvel du BNF Ms. Fr. 146, le Confort d'ami et une complainte de Machaut, et " Griselda " du Décameron de Boccace). La circulation transtextuelle de la petite phrase révèle le monde de la chancellerie médiévale où se brassent la littérature et la politique et où on s'interroge sur le fondement moral du pouvoir. Elle dénonce l'abus de pouvoir, le mauvais conseiller, et la corruption de la cour en même temps qu'elle fige une parole fuyante qui éclaire toute une époque
