Le journalisme s’est construit sur sa position d’intermédiaire entre l’état du monde et les citoyens qui s’en informent. Mais cette position, que dilue la banalisation des technologies de l’information, ne suffit pas à caractériser l’approche journalistique du réel. L’auteur observe le journalisme comme une éventuelle façon de savoir et faire savoir spécifique, à égale distance de la perception commune et de l’épistémologie des formes légitimées de production de connaissances. Il examine la genèse des normes procédurales du journalisme francophone et leurs évolutions contemporaines, avant de confronter celles-ci à des appareils de production de connaissances plus formels.
