Cet article s’intéresse à l’émergence du nouveau concept de citoyenneté corporative en éthique des affaires. Ce concept normatif cherche à redéfinir le rôle de l’entreprise privée de manière à intégrer à sa mission la prise en charge du bien commun. Le discours éthique ne permet néanmoins pas de remettre en cause la mission d’accumulation de capital inscrite au coeur du statut juridique de l’entreprise, si bien que la notion de citoyenneté corporative alimenterait plutôt une nouvelle stratégie de légitimation : la citoyenneté corporative, en redéfinissant le statut social de l’entreprise privée, contribue à la positionner comme l’institution sociale « mondiale » légitime pour assurer des fonctions jusqu’alors dévolues à l’État.
