Abstract
Il s'agit d'un exposé du pratiquant et non de celui du linguiste, développé par 300 exemples, pour la plupart empruntés à la géographie. La néologie conduit à la formation de nouvelles entités lexicales, pratique nécessaire étant donné l'imperfection terminologique, l'évolution rapide des connaissances et l'impact de l'anglais. La stratégie de l'acte de désignation met en cause le neologue, le signifiable (ou S), des référents, des signifiants et des signifiés (S'). À chercher, des appellatifs conformes à l'esprit du français et le plus petit écart entre S' et S (exemple du mot subarctique). La carrière d'un néologisme est influencée par le besoin, la concurrence, le créateur et le consommateur. Six groupes de procédés néonymiques sont étudiés, composant quarante classes dont la dérivation latine {glaciel), la suffixation [nordicité), l'acronymie {Quéfratec), la siglaison (C/V), la désignation nymo-alpha-numérique [Lac-E-ll) et l'emprunt (primatie). La néologie demande beaucoup de soin. La création lexicale du Québec peut se manifester suivant cinq domaines linguistiques.
