Abstract
I have returned back home again after a year in Canada, and am about to start a new position, with the opportunity and challenge that creates. I have been trying to work out how midwifery in the UK has changed, and where we are now. The classic work of the change process is to decide where you want to be, how you want to get there, and how you will do it. Life tends to be so complicated, and change so fast, that in order to use these principles I find it helps to simplify changing policy, ideas and evidence.
