Abstract
Upon pathogen exposure, plants activate a complex but tightly co-ordinated suite of responses. Investigation of these responses is often hindered by sampling methodologies, whereby analysis of whole plant tissues may disguise what is actually occurring in smaller areas of the leaf. In our New Phytologist (September 2007) paper we identified an approach where we could determine exquisitely where Cauliflower Mosaic Virus (CaMV) was and where it was travelling to; coupled to the accurate monitoring of tightly co-ordinated defence gene regulation. Such an approach has helped us to further characterize the role of plant defence and the subsequent suppression of these defences by the pathogen.Addendum to: Roberts K, Love AJ, Laval V, Laird J, Tomos AD, Hooks MA, Milner JJ.
