Abstract Malgré son emploi généralisé dans l'industrie, la décantation est une opération qui n'a pas encore révélé toutes ses facettes. En particulier, les aspects hydrodynamiques sont par nature complexes du fait de la dépendance des volumes identifiables aux conditions opératoires, ce qui a une conséquence indéniable sur le comportement de l'équipement en régime transitoire.
