Abstract
L’acceptabilité sociale est perçue depuis quelques années comme une condition pour la réalisation de projets de développement qui ont suscité de nombreux débats sur des questions environnementales, telles que la sauvegarde du paysage dans des projets éoliens et la protection de l’eau dans des activités liées aux hydrocarbures (dont le gaz de schiste). Bien souvent, l’acceptabilité sociale se réduit à des moyens techniques pour résoudre les problèmes liés aux risques environnementaux. C’est oublier la dimension normative qui permet de tenir un discours éthico-politique sur notre rapport à autrui, à la communauté et à la nature. Poser la question de la normativité, c’est interroger le sens que peut prendre l’acceptabilité sociale quand elle s’inscrit dans une conception managériale de la société ignorant ainsi la capacité réflexive des individus. C’est aussi exiger d’ouvrir les débats à un dialogue tenant compte des revendications citoyennes pour une économie territorialisée.
