Abstract
Plus qu'un genre littéraire, la poésie est « le lieu originaire de l'écriture et l'horizon de toute littérature » (Jean-Michel Maulpoix). Nous étudions ici les commencements et les perspectives de la littérature québécoise à travers quelques événements esthétiques où la poésie manifeste sa présence, ses ruptures, son travail sur la langue et le langage. D'une forte tradition orale aux écritures de la modernité, en passant par les mythes du Poète. À l'ombre et à la lumière de la prose, car la poésie n'est jamais seule dans l'histoire. Ce qui est difficile à trouver, c'est le « classicisme de son époque » (Gaston Miron), de toute époque. Un essai de Pierre Nepveu, Intérieurs du Nouveau Monde (1998), est finalement pris comme exemple d'une mise en situation culturelle de la poésie québécoise.
