Abstract
Nous tentons dans cet article une description des opérations énonciatives dont coudon est le marqueur linguistique en québécois vernaculaire. Il s’agit soit d’un connecteur soit d’un ancreur. Comme connecteur, il apparaît dans des structures simples de type p coudon q. L’élément p est alors donné comme contenant un procès duratif ou répétitif dont coudon dégage la cause, la conséquence ou une vérité générale. Comme ancreur, il apparaît dans des structures plus complexes de type « coudon — thème — (thème dérivé) — propos ». Il introduit alors un propos modalisé, en ancrant d’abord un thème nouveau sur ce qui précède, selon des lois très strictes. Coudon dégage certains effets perlocutoires particuliers et tend à se spécialiser dans la fonction phatique de marqueur d’un « accusé de réception ».
