Abstract
INTRODUCTION The aim of this article is to provide answers to a few questions: What is mentoring? Why is it useful? How, when, and where should it take place? And, Who would benefit from mentoring? Further dimensions to be discussed are the selection and training of mentors, the need to recognize and reward those who are occupied in mentoring, and the relationship between mentoring and teaching. It will also be necessary to explore the fact that mentoring can produce negative outcomes.
