Both full-time and part-time students come across transition problems during their first year in university. Past studies show that there are three adjustments the freshmen encountered when they have just entered the university. They are academic, social and psychological adjustments. The purpose of this study is to investigate the difference between full-time and part-time students in adjusting to universities. The survey methodology was employed and totally 265 first year students from 5 Hong Kong universities have returned the questionnaire. The findings show that the full-time students can transit better to university than part-time students in the academic, social and psychological adjustments.
