Abstract
Quelle a été 1'évolution des effectifs du clergé dans la province de Québec? Louis-Edmond Hamelin a entrepris la tâche difficile de répondre à cette question. Le dossier qu'il présente ici constitue la première étude systématique consacrée à la démographie de notre clergé. Étant donné le rôle qu’a joué le clergé dans 1'évolution sociale du Canada français, on reconnaîtra d'emblée l'importance d'une telle étude.
