Résumé Lors des premières années d’action des missionnaires en Tanzanie, époque de fondation et la construction des stations de missions est l’une des activités principales. Après avoir trouvé un site alliant une population prête à être évangélisée et des exigences de salubrité, les premières années des missionnaires se passent généralement dans des constructions provisoires souvent inspirées par les constructions indigènes. Mais dès que leurs finances le permettent, les missionnaires vont construire des bâtiments répondant à des exigences de confort et pouvant assurer une partie du prestige de la mission. Leur inspiration se trouvera alors dans une architecture d’importation aux références culturelles souvent contraignantes; seuls le climat et la disponibilité des matériaux de constructions forceront à une adaptation au nouvel environnement.
