Abstract
Dois são os objetivos do trabalho. Em primeiro lugar, medir a magnitude das tarifas praticadas pela UE sobre os produtos agropecuários. Em segundo lugar, identificar eventual discriminação tarifária entre esses produtos. A hipótese é a de que há uma discriminação tarifária na pauta agropecuária da UE. Os traba-lhos já realizados com tal cenário têm sugerido que há produtos particularmente protegidos pelas tarifas agropecuárias na Europa unificada. A discussão acerca do uso de distintos preços de referência pretende ser uma das contribuições do trabalho. Para tanto, realizaram-se três simulações com diferentes preços de referência para a conversão das tarifas específicas. O estudo aponta os produtos agropecuários que são alvo de proteção tarifária na UE: no primeiro grupo estão carnes e miudezas, açúcares e confeitaria, e resíduos de indústrias alimentares; e num segundo grupo, tabaco e seus manufaturados, preparações de carne, cereais, cacau e preparações, preparações de cereais, leite e laticínios, e produtos químicos orgânicos.
