Abstract
L'enquête des auteurs s'inscrit dans le courant récent des études de «districts industriels», qui se réclame de Alfred Marshall, un courant qui s'est peu fait sentir au Québec. Ils montrent qu'il existe cependant ici un mode de développement industriel centré sur l'entrepreneuriat local, dans des secteurs de production diversifiée où l'identité collective tient à la proximité territoriale de longue période. Deux observations principales se dégagent de leur monographie: en passant de la paysannerie à l'industrialisation, les marchés se sont en grande partie dérégionalisés ; en contrepartie, la régionalisation a été renouvelée par des règles de coopération moins diffuses qu'auparavant, en vue de protéger et de développer la production locale.
