Differential Growth in the Sartorius Muscles of Male and Female Turkeys
Bibliographic record
Abstract
Summary The growth of sartorius muscles in male and female turkeys (Meleagris gallopavo) was measured at two-week intervals for 20 weeks after hatching. Sartorius muscles of males and females were equal in weight at the time of hatching but by 20 weeks sartorius muscles from females were only approximately 70% of the weight in males. The cause of greater muscle growth in males was a faster rate of sarcomere addition longitudinally. Although equal at the time of hatching, females had only approximately 75% of the number of sarcomeres along the length of their muscles relative to males of equal age in the latter weeks of growth. No differences in radial growth of myofibres were detected between males and females and, in both sexes, myofibres increased their cross-sectional areas approximately 30 times in 20 weeks. In both males and females, longitudinal growth of the sartorius muscle was faster than that of the femur. In both males and females, radial growth of myofibres in the sartorius was less than that in the pectoralis muscle.

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
