Abstract
Au cours des cent cinquante dernières années, plusieurs générations des peuples autochtones du Canada ont été placées dans des pensionnats pour enfants au nom de la croyance absolue en la supériorité morale et intellectuelle de la culture blanche sur tous les aspects de la vie des autochtones. Dans les pensionnats, les élèves ont été victimes de violence physique et de sévices sexuels atroces, ayant entraîné la mort dans certains cas. Depuis quelques années, des efforts tentent de briser le mur du silence qui entoure le système des pensionnats, efforts qui obtiennent de premiers résultats. (
