Abstract
Les enquêtes de démographie rétrospective, s'appuyant sur une technologie entièrement renouvelée, ont ouvert à la sociologie aussi bien qu'à l'histoire sociale des perspectives de recherche extrêmement riches. En particulier, pour ce qui concerne l'analyse concrète des structures sociales québécoises en termes de classes et de rapports sociaux, on peut escompter ici des profits considérables. Mais ces avenues prometteuses sont souvent hérissées de difficultés qui tiennent tantôt aux sources documentaires, tantôt à la méthodologie proprement dite, et elles invitent à des solutions et à des interprétations prudentes. Les unes comme les autres sont ici brièvement exposées et commentées.
