Abstract
D’après les réalistes, les événements du 11 septembre et leurs conséquences renforcent le réalisme comme théorie dominante des relations internattionales, en soulignant les dangers permanents de la société internationale anarchique et en montrant que les États souverains doivent continuer à recourir à la force militaire pour assurer leurs intérêts et leur sécurité. Si le post-réalisme reconnaît la pertinence de la vision réaliste, il n’en suggère pas moins que l’action politique est plus complexe et plus dynamique, en soulignant l’importance de dimensions, interprétations et significations à la fois réalistes et non réalistes pour une compréhension critique des relations internationales. C’est dans cette perspective qu’est analysé l’impérialisme américain, abordé comme formation culturelle à travers une analyse discursive. D’après le post-réalisme, le fait de regarder le monde à travers un ensemble pluriel de grilles de lectures est susceptible de produire des stratégies politiques plus prudentes.
