Partant d’une présentation du système scolaire suisse et de ses spécificités en matière d’éducation au développement durable, cet article met en perspective les soubassements théoriques sur lesquels s’appuie cette éducation, ainsi que des pistes concrètes proposées aux étudiants de la Haute école pédagogique (HEP) de Fribourg, responsables de la formation des futurs enseignants de l’école primaire dans ce canton. L’interdisciplinarité y occupe une place importante. En effet, le nouveau plan d’études pour la Suisse francophone place cette dernière au cœur de l’enseignement obligatoire. Afin d’offrir le maximum de chance à cette interdisciplinarité de sortir des seules déclarations de bonnes intentions, l’unité de recherche en didactique des sciences et éducation au développement durable de la HEP de Fribourg l’a non seulement intégrée comme base d’enseignement dans l’ensemble de ses cours, mais elle tente également de la proposer comme projet institutionnel. Divisé en quatre parties complémentaires, cet article présente une vision complète de la place et de la manière dont l’éducation en vue d’un développement durable et de l’interdisciplinarité s’installent dans le système scolaire, depuis les directives administratives officielles jusque dans la formation des futurs enseignants.
