Abstract
Accompagner les patients en fin de vie fait partie du quotidien de l’infirmière des soins intensifs (USI). Peu d’études ont documenté ce que les infirmières considèrent être de bons soins palliatifs dans ce contexte. Cette étude phénoménologique s’est déroulée en quatre phases et avait pour but de comprendre comment se manifestent les « bons soins » palliatifs à l’USI. Les données ont été recueillies par entrevues de groupe, séances d’observation suivies d’entrevues individuelles et entrevues de validation en groupe. Les « bons soins » palliatifs se manifestent par la considération des six dimensions de la personne, comme proposées par Gastmans et al. (1998), soit : les dimensions physique, relationnelle, psychologique, morale, sociale et spirituelle.
