L'article décrit l'usage des contes merveilleux lorsqu'il s'agit de stimuler les forces sous-conscientes. Ces forces sont mobilisables chez un adulte pour reprendre la maîtrise de sa vie. Par un procédé métaphorique, l'auteure restitue l'enseignement du conte dans une nouvelle histoire qui se situe à mi-chemin entre le récit du conte et l'expérience douloureuse et répétitive de la personne. L'auteure situe cette façon de faire dans le cadre général de la consultation individuelle en service social.
