L'objectif de cette étude est d'examiner le statut de ça fait que dans le parler acadien des Îles-de-la-Madeleine tout en tenant compte des caractéristiques dis-tributionnelles de ce jonctif ambigu. Parmi toutes les locutions figurant dans la catégorie des coordonnants ça fait que occupe un rôle primordial dans les parlers acadiens et québécois. Relevé par Grevisse dans le français familier au sens de donc, ainsi, alors, le connecteur semble avoir partiellement perdu la notion de conséquence dans les variétés nord-américaines. Comme le montrent les études de Roy (1979), de Léard (1986) et de Wiesmath (2000), ça fait que, parfois réduit à ça fait ou fait que, est employé de plus en plus souvent comme particule discursive. Or, cette désémantisation graduelle est associée àune modification de la valeur du connecteur, dont le rôle pragmatique grandit. À partir de quelques exemples tirés d'un corpus oral du parler madelinot, nous nous focalisons sur le comportement syntaxique ainsi que sur les fonctions pragmatiques du connecteur ça fait pour déterminer, entre autres, les types d'opérations syntaxiques possibles et la combinaison de ça fait que avec d'autres particules du discours.
